The Children’s Museum of Memphis (CMOM) focuses on children from birth to 10 years old and their families/caregivers. CMOM’s stated mission is “Creating memorable learning experiences through the joy of play in hands-on exhibits and programs” and is a destination and resource for all young children to develop, learn, create, and have fun. Operational excellence, improvements in exhibits, Programming, and staffing at CMOM have led to over ten straight years of continued growth year over year with over 250,000 visitors last year alone. CMOM currently has almost 7,000 memberships and growing. The Museum is also one of the very few accredited children’s museums in the nation which was achieved in March of 2014 from the American Alliance of Museums (AAM). CMOM is now involved in a capital campaign to retire the debt for our latest expansion which is the addition of the Memphis Grand Carousel Pavilion and Banquet facility which will house the city’s Historic 1909 Dentzel Carousel which is in the final refurbishment phase for installation in December 2017. The Children's Museum has an annual budget of approximately $3 million. CMOM is looking for an experienced person to lead the institution, as Executive Director, to continue its phenomenal growth and success into the future.

|Qualifications||The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal communications skills and be creative, self-directed, energetic, a team player, and have experience in early childhood education, museum education, or equivalent, including experience in an informal learning environment. Other key attributes include leadership, management, and fundraising experience (both for operations and as part of a capital campaign), the ability to build collaborative relationships, financial savvy, a track record of results, and a passion for early childhood education.|
|Job Responsibilities||The Executive Director has overall responsibility for fundraising, staff supervision, planning, financial management, program management, marketing, and community relations for this Non-profit institution, subject to Board oversight. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board to develop and implement the strategic plan, establish policies, and provide leadership and support for the staff and volunteers.|
