Development Director, Children's Museum of Bozeman (MT)
The Children’s Museum of Bozeman (CMB) and STEAMlab is seeking a motivated individual to be our new Director of Education. The Director of Education is an integral staff member, in charge of managing our rapidly expanding STEAMlab programming and outreach. The STEAMlab is CMB’s high-tech makerspace, with student computer stations, 3D printers, electronics and engineering materials, robots and more. CMB is dedicated to providing hands-on exhibits and experiential learning opportunities that spark imagination, foster curiosity and promote self-confidence to over 17,000 families a year.
|Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a STEAM field
3-4 years experience in Education
Interest and experience in STEM materials and tools
Enjoys working with children.
Demonstrated organization and time management skills, emotional intelligence, problem solving, and working in a collaborative team.
Ability to lead other individuals and assign tasks, oversee projects. Experience managing a small team while upholding a positive culture a must.
Strong communication skills including public speaking, customer service and public relations, and the desire to cultivate important relationships with members.
Flexibility in schedule; hours vary per individual programs.
Understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusion and their benefits.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs. and ability to do various manual tasks.
|Educational Programming. Director of Education coordinates and executes all programming in the museum’s STEAMlab, including field trips, summer camps, and Open Labs. Creates and codifies all new and existing curriculum.
STEAMlab Makerspace Management. Manages STEAMlab staff and volunteers. Responsible for maintenance and IT of 3D printers, computer lab, secure server and other tech equipment. Coordinates inventory of tinkering materials and tools. Collects metrics and runs analyses on participation, growth and cost.
Partnerships. Develops and maintains collaborations with CMB’s strategic partners, including but limited to Universities, businesses and organizations.
Development and Outreach. Attends community events as a representative of CMB and the STEAMlab. Writes grants and sponsorship applications for STEAMlab programming. Coordinates STEAMlab fundraisers and sponsorship opportunities. Develops and implements program budgets.
