Accessing ACM Museum Data

Query Report Service

Have you ever wanted to know…

  • how your museum's attendance or budget compares with similarly sized museums?
  • the number of staff necessary in a particular size museum?
  • which museums have an active capital campaign?
  • the data that powers the Children's Museum Metrics Reports?

What kind of data can I get from ACM?

ACM collects more than 180 data points about museum operations each year, giving members access to the most up-to-date information available about the children's museum field. ACM most recently collected museums' FY2009 operations data - everything from building size, number of staff and types of programs to availability of food service, gift shop size and attendance data. ACM sends the data you request in your Query Report in Excel spreadsheet. An average Query Report includes data from as few as five museums or more than 100.

Please note: ACM only has access to data provided by ACM member museums. The majority of ACM members are children's museums. ACM does not have extensive data about science and technology centers, art museums, history museum or the greater museum field. ACM cannot guarantee the accuracy of member-supplied data.
