The Award: Since 1998, MetLife
Foundation and Association of Children's Museums Promising
Practice Award has recognized more than two dozen museums
that developed innovative programs and creative management
practices in the children's museum field. In 2004, MetLife
Foundation and ACM established the Replication Award,
a $10,000 restricted grant for former Promising Practice
Award recipients to create an online "tool kit"
and InterActivity training session so that other children's
museums may learn how to create a similar, museum-tested,
award-winning program in their own communities.
Eligibility: The
award competition is open to prior cash award recipients of the
Promising Practice Award that are voting members in good
standing with ACM. Applicants must plan for and deliver a Web-based
tool-kit. The Replication Award does not support the development
of print-based or CD-ROM tool kits.
Selection Criteria and
Narrative Requirements: Applications will be evaluated by an
impartial panel of experts (Selection Committee) familiar with the
children's museum field. The Selection Committee will consider the
utility and benefits of replication for the field. Deliberation
will be based on applicants' narrative responses to questions listed
below. Award recipients will be notified in March 2009. Please answer
the following questions in a narrative not to exceed 1,575 words
in length.
Application Process:
Applicants must complete the online application in one sitting;
ACM recommends that applicants prepare their answers for the essay
questions ahead of time. ACM will send a confirmation email once
your application has been submitted.
