Program Description: The InterActivity
Small Museums Financial Aid Program will provide five (5) selected
individuals from five unique museum institutions with complimentary
registration to InterActivity 2008 and tickets to two evening events.
The goal of the program is to offset professional development expenses
for museum staff at open children's museums with annual budgets
under $500,000, who would otherwise be unable to attend InterActivity.
The intent of the program is to cultivate staff members at small
museums for long-term careers in the children's museum field. Travel
to InterActivity and hotel accommodations are the responsibility
of the selected recipient.
Applicant Eligibility: All applicants are
expected to meet the following eligibility requirements.
- Employed at an open,
current ACM member children's museum that has an annual operating
budget under $500,000.
- Employed for at least one year at the ACM member
children's museum.
- Employer museum has submitted a completed
2008
ACM Membership Survey.
- Applicant has not attended
InterActivity 2007 or InterActivity 2006.
- Applicant is committed to a career in
the children's museum field.
Additional Considerations: Applications
will be reviewed based on the complete, accurate information submitted
by the applicant. Financial aid will be awarded to one staff member
per museum. Applicants and applicant supervisors should clearly
understand and endorse the benefits and responsibilities that come
with the financial aid.
Note: For applicants who are not selected
to receive financial aid but who nonetheless decide to register
for InterActivity after February 22, 2008, ACM will extend InterActivity
Early Bird Member Discount rates to these individuals through the
Advance Registration Period, which ends April 4, 2008.
Application Process: Applicants must complete
the online application in one sitting; ACM recommends that applicants
prepare their answers for the essay questions ahead of time. ACM
will send a confirmation email once your application has been submitted.
A paper application
form may be mailed to ACM as an alternative to the online application.
However, ACM strongly encourages all
applicants to go paperless and apply online.
