| Description: |
The Adventures of MR. POTATO HEAD,
an exciting new hands-on exhibit developed in collaboration
with Hasbro, Inc., will premiere at the Betty Brinn Children's
Museum in the summer of 2008 and will then embark on a national
tour. The exhibit features MR. POTATO HEAD, the much-loved
silly character, who becomes an astronaut, explorer, scientist
and undersea adventurer with a change of his "parts."
MR. POTATO HEAD's knack for wacky escapades and familiar personality
will engage children in adventures that are friendly, yet
exotic, while the comic appeal of the character will charm
adults and encourage them to play along.
The MR. POTATO HEAD character will lead
the way on amazing adventures into outer space, on a jungle
safari, on an archaeological dig, and under the sea. In addition
to building a variety of essential academic skills, the exhibit
encourages children to welcome new experiences with confidence,
curiosity and humor, to think about all they can be and do
and to always respect themselves and others.
Signage and Support: All exhibit signage
is provided in English and Spanish. Marketing and publicity
materials are provided, along with an educational program
guide and detailed instruction manual.
Make one or all of MR. POTATO HEAD'S adventures
a permanent part of your museum. Call for details!

Adventures with Clifford The Big Red Dog
transports visitors to the world of Clifford, Emily Elizabeth
and all of the residents of Birdwell Island. Like tourists
visiting Birdwell Island, visitors will start their journey
to the exhibit aboard the Birdwell Island ferry, complete
with seagull sounds and clanking ship bells.
Families take the captain's seat and steer
the ship's wheel as they disembark and enter the world of
Clifford and Emily Elizabeth. All of the exhibit "sites"
are environments based on locations found on the PBS Kids
Clifford The Big Red Dog television series. The exhibit content
and environments are targeted toward ages 2-8, families and
school groups and include:
- Exhibit Entry: A lighthouse leads the way for visitors
to enter the exhibit.
- Birdwell Island Ferry: Upon entering the exhibit,
visitors climb aboard the Birdwell Island ferry and try
their hands at steering the ferry as passengers hear ocean
noises and an announcement of their arrival to Birdwell
Island.
- Samuel's Fish and Chips Shack: As visitors step
inside Samuel's restaurant, they step into the shoes of
restaurant workers by cooking, cleaning, serving food, and
restocking shelves. A cash register, order pads, and a menu
promote early literacy and early math skills.
- T-Bone's Beach Fun: Families visit T-Bone and his
bone-shaped sand box where they put together a sculpted
sand castle puzzle, dig for treasure of different shapes
and sizes, and play with plastic connectable fish from a
treasure chest.
- Clifford and his doghouse: A giant Clifford invites
visitors to sit on his paw next to Emily Elizabeth or slide
down his tail. Visitors are encouraged to try their hand
at keeping Clifford's dog bowl full by loading dog food
into his bowl with a conveyor belt.
- Emily Elizabeth's Backyard Theater: Children don
costumes and step onstage in front of a Clifford backdrop
to join in the fun. Seating is arranged in front for audience
members.
- Howard's Home: Visitors help out Emily Elizabeth's family
by doing some hands-on yard-care and tending to the flowers
in the garden.
- Cleo's Backyard: Cleo welcomes our youngest visitors
to her backyard-a small tot play land. Based on the items
found in Cleo's yard, the exhibit components encourage large-muscle
development and appropriate risk-taking.
- Birdwell Island Post Office: Visitors can deliver
their own hand-made letters or pre-addressed letters to
the post office and mailboxes throughout the exhibit.
- Author's Corner and Reading Area: This library
includes a cozy book nook with bookshelves filled with Clifford
stories. Visitors view video clips of Norman Bridwell and
browse through an art gallery to get an inside look at the
development of Clifford The Big Red Dog and Mr.
Bridwell's creative process over the past 40 years

| Description: |
Come castle folk! Come dance and play! Visitors
playfully explore the interconnectedness of community members
in a setting inspired by fantasy and history. From becoming
a jester and putting on a show, to helping the cook prepare
a feast and constructing a bench in the carpenter's workshop,
children's play and learning are supported by the exhibit's
design, characters, narrative, interactives, costumes and
props. The exhibit is targeted toward children ages 10 and
younger, families, and school groups. Each component of the
exhibit invites the visitor to experience community life through
the perspective of one of nine characters working together
to throw a party in the castle.
Key areas include:
- Exhibit Entry and Big Book: Lord Ben and Lady Evolent
welcome visitors, who can begin their adventure by reading
the story of The Amazing Castle and its inhabitants.
- The Keep: Toddlers create a miniature community
in a castle-inspired dollhouse, build their own fortress
out of "stone" blocks, and play with a castle
busy wall.
- The Great Hall and Garden: Friends and family can
take a seat at the royal table while children prepare a
mouthwatering meal with "Kipper the Cook." They'll
select ingredients from a larder stocked with bread, vegetables
and fruits, and choose a main course to prepare and cook
in a cauldron at the fireplace. They can join "Posey
the Gardener" in the royal garden to pick and plant
vegetables and gather eggs from a hen in the garden shed.
- Royal Puppet Theatre: Children and adults become
castle entertainers when they visit "HiJinx the Jester"
in the Royal Puppet Theatre to present a puppet show. Children
can pick out a fancy robe, pull up a throne and become the
Lord or Lady, or don the jester's costume and entertain
the Lord and Lady.
- The Tailor's Workshop: Visitors try their hand
at repairing and making clothing for all of the castle citizens
with "Trim the Tailor." They can play a game,
design costumes, create their own outfits, and discover
how silly their costumes appear when they look at themselves
in a distorted mirror!
- The Carpenter's Workshop: Children and adults can
grab a work apron and help "Gable the Carpenter"
build a simple table or chair using mortise and tenon construction,
or put together something of their own design.
- The Blacksmith's Workshop: Families join "Synge
the Blacksmith" to help her affix a metal patch to
the hole in Kipper's big iron cauldron. Children and adults
can also pretend to repair iron tools using a stone forge
with "glowing" coals, a water bucket, and Synge's
anvil.
- The Dragon Tower: The Dragon Tower is home to "Herald
the Dragon," who announces important information to
the citizens of The Amazing Castle. But Herald keeps falling
asleep and needs to be awakened frequently. Visitors can
wake Herald by matching each of the six electronic castle
character puzzle pieces with his or her appropriate tool
or symbol.

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to step inside
the popular television series Bob the Builder?
Now you'll have the chance!
The newest traveling exhibition from The Children's Museum
of Indianapolis, Bob the Builder- Project: Build
It, will bring Bob the Builder's world filled with colorful
characters, inspiring teamwork and "green" themes
to life for girls and boys and their families. Based on the
sets from the popular television series by HIT Entertainment,
Bob the Builder-Project: Build It is rich in objects,
shapes, sounds, colors and hands-on activities.
Bob the Builder- Project: Build It introduces young
children to Sunflower Valley, Bob's newest project. Here children
will help Bob, Wendy and the rest of the team build this new
community. They will be able to build, fix and decorate right
alongside Bob and his friends. When children enter the exhibit,
they can say "Hello" to life-sized three-dimensional
show characters on their way to Sunflower Valley. In Bob's
Mobile Home, they will learn more about Bob the Builder's
Big Plan, look at blueprints for his project, and even play
with a scale model of Sunflower Valley.
Families will also be able to explore a life-size version
of the Machine Shelter where they can play with the building
machines from Bob the Builder's team-- Roley, Scoop, Muck
and Scrambler. They can even work together to "build"
the shelter using fake stones and wooden planks. Families
will also be able to explore tools and materials in Bob's
Workshop. Inside, they will operate child-friendly equipment,
fix a sink and design a blueprint. Families can also plant
a garden near Wendy's Caravan, work as a team at the Sunflower
Valley Water Pump with Farmer Pickles, Build an Eco-Friendly
Cottage and much more.
Can we build it? Yes we can!

Children and families are invited to the enchanting world of Dora the Explorer, her animal-rescuing cousin Diego, and their friends Boots and Baby Jaguar! Here they can explore Isa’s Flowery Garden, help Tico gather nuts, join the Pirate Piggies’ crew as they set sail, and search for baby animals in the Rainforest Maze.
In Dora and Diego—Let’s Explore!, children and families will: Sail the high seas in the Pirate Piggies’ Ship—Climb aboard the pirate ship in search of treasure. Help Dora and Boots get the crew ready to sail the seas by following the Pirate Piggy Rules: dress like a pirate, sing a pirate song, always be polite, and share. Travel through space in the Rocket Ship—Dora’s space creature friends need help to find their way back to the Purple Planet. Operate the rocket ship control panel to navigate through the Milky Way, look out the porthole to see planets fly by, and connect stars to form a constellation. Once you arrive, explore the Purple Planet in your space suit! Explore the Rainforest Maze—Run, jump, crawl, and swing through the Rainforest Maze in search of baby animals hidden inside. Care for baby animals in the Animal Rescue Center—Learn how to care for red-eyed tree frogs, spider monkeys, jaguars, and crocodiles by placing them in Scan the Scanner. Then help Diego and Alicia examine, bandage, bathe, and feed the baby animals. Collect nuts in the Nutty Forest—Help Tico gather nuts to fuel his car before Swiper swipes them. If you see Swiper, tell him, “Swiper, no swiping!” Tend Isa’s Garden—Help Isa care for her garden by planting and watering flowers and sorting flowers by their shapes. Make sure to stop and smell the posies.
Preschoolers will role-play, solve problems, practice sharing and caring behaviors, and learn Spanish words. Everyone will celebrate a successful day–”We did it! ¡Lo hicimos!” |

| Description: |
Every
object in our world has a story of how it is made. How People
Make Things tells that story by linking familiar childhood objects
to a process of manufacturing that depends on people, ideas
and technology to transform raw materials into finished products.
This exhibit explores four manufacturing processes: cut, mold,
deform and assemble. Visitors learn about each process through
hands-on activities, Mister Rogers' Factory Tour videos, artifact
representations of these processes and take-home projects that
extend learning and conversations beyond the museum visit. Everyday
products featured in the exhibit include 10,000 Crayola crayons
in 90 colors, 10,000 springs, traffic lights, cooking pans,
sneakers, baseball bats, baseball gloves and matchbox cars.
Visitors move through the four different factory areas to see
how everyday products are manufactured. Visitors will make a
die cut box and a vacuum formed bowl, and watch a plastic spoon
being made by an injection molder. They can also try operating
a 3-axis mill, assemble a golf cart and see a robotic arm in
action. This exhibit provides the opportunity to try new things,
to think in new ways and to foster on-going curiosity. |

| Description: |
Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl: Home Sweet Home, a new
hands-on exhibit for children ages 2 to 8, developed in collaboration
with the US Forest Service, will premiere at the Betty Brinn
Children's Museum in the summer of 2009 and will then embark
on a national tour.
This new traveling exhibit, featuring two classic American
icons, will inspire children and families to discover and
care for the natural resources that sustain our world
our home sweet home. Smokey Bear, Woodsy Owl and their forest
friends share important messages as they lead visitors into
pretend woodland and urban settings that encourage families
to spend time together outdoors and teach young children to
be active explorers and stewards of the land. The exhibits
hands-on activities and related programming underscore the
importance of protecting forest ecosystems and highlight ways
to reduce, reuse and recycle valuable resources.
