Description:

Body Carnival: The Science and Fun of Being You uses carnival-themed components to explore the connections between perception and laws of physics as related to the human body. Eighteen components invite visitors to crawl through a giant artery to see and hear the effects of plaque build-up on blood flow, test their balance as they walk through the 10-foot Dizzy Tunnel, try on a pair of vision-distorting goggles and discover how sight affects the ability to walk straight, experiment in the House of Color with different sources of light, “hear” through their bones and muscles while learning how these transmit sound, and more.

A 2,200 square foot maze invites children and families to learn about energy and energy conservation. Conservation Quest poses questions, shares the facts and challenges visitors to take responsibility by using less energy. Visitors enjoy physically exploring a maze while mentally connecting with the subject matter.Over 60 4’ x 5’ vinyl panels set the stage for a visually spectacular, immersive experience. Larger than life graphics and clever copy to make the subject of energy accessible, informative and fun. At the end of their journey, visitors are encouraged to make personal commitments to conserve energy and protect the planet.The maze can be installed in virtually any space - indoors and outdoors.

Goals: Teach children about energy - what it is, where it comes from and why we need to use it wisely. Inspire visitors to conserve energy, protect their health and the planet. Empower visitors to make a difference through environmental stewardship.

Healthier Ever After is an active fairytale forest with tips for making healthy lifestyle choices. Children must maneuver through the fairytale forest and overcome obstacles as they exercise their bodies and learn about health and nutrition in a fun, playful manner. In doing so, they will learn to live healthier ever after.

Sneakers the dragon mascot welcomes all into Healthier Ever After. Begin your journey while warming up your muscles at the Stretching Station. Improve muscle coordination by climbing the rock wall or crawling through the tunnels of Coordination Cave. In the Move & Groove Meadow, get your body moving by dancing to high energy tunes. Test your balance in Crocodile Crossing. Watch out for crocodiles! In the make believe orchard of Goodness Groove, choose and sort your favorite fruits and vegetables. Prepare a healthy meal in the Daily Diet or learn about portion control in the Portion Patio. When you reach the Castle, your heart will be pumping as you climb stairs, jump over the bridge and raise the flag signaling your successful completion of the castle challenges.

The Children's Museum of Tacoma's Learning Lounge transforms early childhood research from shelf-bound resources into interactive exhibits that allow children and adults explore different early childhood issues together through play. Smart Moves with Food and Fitness guides children and their caregivers in identifying healthy choices in eating and physical activity habits by engaging children and adults in play and conversation about what it means to live a healthy lifestyle. The modular design of Smart Moves with Food and Fitness allows for great display flexibility. The three separate pieces work alone in a minimum of 300 square feet or can be enhanced by building an environment to support the exhibit, such as a play kitchen or yoga exercise studio.

Night Journeys provides a cozy and fun environment in which children ages 5-12 explore the science and culture of sleep, including their own compelling bedtime slumber time rituals, fears and curiosities. With hands-on activities, cultural artifacts, story-telling areas, video displays and role-play stations, Night Journeys encourages meaningful dialogue and shared learning for children and families.

Description: Become a Real Life Action Star!
Featuring the theme of action adventures popular in children's books and movies, Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action inspires young people to get physically active. The exhibit invites visitors to step into scenes right out of action adventure stories and jump into action star training play activities that build strength, coordination, balance and endurance. Visitors climb a canyon wall, balance on a "snow" or "surf" board, pedal "flycycles" and practice kung fu stances.

The exhibit features four adventure scenes, an Action Star Training Center and a Toddler Pyramid. The adventure scenes include:

  1. Surf /Snow (balance)
  2. Kung Fu Forest (coordination)
  3. Climbing Canyon (strength)
  4. Flycycle Sky (endurance)

A Yoga Station, Strength Center, and Dance Club are located in the Action Star Training Center.
The smallest visitors, ages 3 and under, enjoy their own Toddler Pyramid full of reasons to climb, crawl and slide.

Travel with everyone’s favorite wobbling characters in WEEBLES Coast to Coast, a new educational traveling exhibit developed in collaboration with PLAYSKOOL®. Pretend tourist destinations representing each of the fifty states invite visitors to discover America through activities that highlight geography, history, music and movement. So get ready to catch a wave in California, perform on Broadway, ride a burro at the Grand Canyon, camp on the Appalachian Trail, pedal-power a steamboat down the mighty Mississippi or hit a home run at Fenway Park – you can even build the St. Louis Arch!The adventure begins in your own backyard. A giant tree house and a themed reading area (A Book Can Take You Anywhere!) inspire children to learn about the United States…and beyond!

Hands-on activities throughout the exhibit help build important academic skills as they introduce children to geographic and historical landmarks, favorite American pastimes and key state facts. Samples of music from around the nation offer opportunities to sing, dance, rhyme and perform, and physical activities help emphasize the importance of a healthy lifestyle. The exhibit’s maps and panoramic murals of the American landscape help orient visitors as they explore the U.S. regions.

Target Audience Standards-based educational activities are designed for children ages 2 to 10; the fun is designed for everyone!
