Vroom and Children's Museums

Supporting Families’ Brain-Building Moments

Children are born ready to learn. The science is clear: ninety percent of a child’s brain develops during the first five years. Vroom brings the science of early childhood development out of the lab and puts it in the hands of parents by turning everyday moments into opportunities for brain-building. The Association of Children’s Museums (ACM) and Vroom, an initiative of the Bezos Family Foundation, worked together to transform under-utilized spaces in children’s museums, such as foyers, hallways, restrooms, and cubbies, into learning environments.

Ninety-five ACM members installed Vroom decals through this initiative and then noticed surprising results. One museum realized how many Spanish speakers visited their museum and implemented new bilingual story times. Another integrated the decals into their new Moms and Infants group after seeing how often visitors used the exercises on the decals. Museums reported an overall increase in interaction between caregivers and children because of the decals.

Although ACM's partnership with Vroom has ended, a limited number of pre-printed Vroom decal Starter Packs in English and Spanish remain available. Contact Brendan Cartwright to inquire about obtaining a set for your children's museum.
